Made for chefseru in the /aicg/ April Fools' event. The request was for a character that had "willfully led a monstrous life" that they had left behind, with the three guidelines of: 1. {{user}} and {{char}}'s relationship has to be established 2. The character cannot feel regretful for their past actions 3. The nefarious actions they had committed had to be hands-on And since this was an April Fools' event, we were encouraged to put a fun spin on the card. Something that follows the request, but does so in a fun way. For this, I had an idea pop up almost immediately: BEES! For what better way to inflict terror on people if not for using bees? This grew into an ecoterrorist using a superhero-like persona, culminating in her blowing up the internet and electricity, Deus Ex-style. I thought about having the scenario be far more cataclysmic, and have most of the population of the world die because of her (maybe something like super bees that would kill anyone not with the correct gene makeup), and that her relationship with you would be a kind of Adam and Eve situation where you were chosen to repopulate the world with her. Chose against it because it didn't make that much sense and felt kind of limiting since all you would really be able to do is to hang out in the valley and procreate. The latter part of the idea was relegated to a single greeting instead. I also bounced around the idea of having the player be her child (be they an orphan or biological child, as long as they have never experienced the horrible industrial world), but by that point I had already realized that the general premise (big girl, isolated location, player can't leave) was similar to Toriel and the request also fit her (led a MONSTROUS life, does not regret her past, and what she did was hands-on: meaning she left her husband when he refused to just murder people and decided to work against him) and so I wanted to make a card of her too for the event. Toriel is a very mom-coded character, and so it felt better to have her in that role, and Eliza was always supposed to be more calculating and industrious than motherly anyway. Finally, I decided on an amnesiac backstory for the player character. It gives a lot of leeway for players, while still having Eliza have a set relationship with them. Having brain damage can be used creatively, or you can just act like you didn't forget much of anything at all! Then, there was the question of backstory. I often find that if I put a long backstory and/or worldbuilding into characters, AI finds a way to bring them up very often. Especially in cases like this where I don't even have them sequestered in a lorebook. So it was vital for me to give as little information about the world, but still paint a picture the AI can draw from if the player asks about the past. The world's current state was also left unmentioned, but for narrative reasons. To Eliza, the world is healing. But she has not left the valley, so how would she know? I did not want to influence the AI into making it write something darker or make it think she's lying to you, so I had to leave it at that. I just included it since Gemini was being stupid and threw in generic fantasy names. - Lorebook: Any settings you use should be fine, the only important thing is that I put chapter-relevant information to be searched for at depth 1000, which means that if your chat goes past 1000 messages, you will have to manually insert a new chapter tag or you will lose that information. There are also a few locations outside the map in greeting 2 you will explore, and to prevent the AI from bringing them up before Zorya visits them through the lorebook I use vars to set their lorebook entries to be empty before the chapters where they come up. - Order of play: The greetings are arranged in chronological order, and there are two "side" chapters where you play the role of someone who Zorya doesn't know. - HTML: I don't know why the ST devs hate the idea of wanting to hide something from the AI through a regex on the first message. Originally the intro divs were just simple divs in the greetings that were supposed to be hidden with a regex, but now they're all separate regexes tied to the chapter tags. This has it's own separate issues, with the AI sometimes throwing in tags in replies when it shouldn't. Fun! (Just delete tags if they appear, this should only be a first reply issue. I also added a line about it in the override JB, just in case.) CHANGES Anything below is no longer related to troubleshooting, this is just info about the changes made in this new version and why I made them. IMAGES Original wanted to have a storybook quality which is why I used the image divs. This was buggy and in hindsight it always felt better to imagine the environment and characters themselves instead of hoping the proper image will load. Therefore, I decided to move all "storybook" things to the greetings, giving them much more style compared to the original. MOVING BETWEEN LOCATIONS Moving over large distances has always been bad with LLMs, tracking positions and spatial awareness specifically. Therefore, I decided to cut out a lot of those parts for the 2025. I had a lot of starting scenarios in the original where you were given a quest to go somewhere, which risked things breaking or going off the rails (not that that's always bad), so instead what I did was to move the starting point to when you are at the quest location. Less of a grand adventure (or game), but more chatbot-friendly. NPCS, LOCATIONS AND OTHER STUFF Having a chapter-based system meant that I had to also divide up character-based lorebook entries into chapter-specific ones. In this anniversary edition I decided to cut down on the amount of named side characters, primarily focusing on Zorya. This made it easier for me to manage the lorebook, since I have to think less of how every chapter affects each character and if I need to split their entries into a new chapter-specific one or not, among other things. Also there were multiple characters that you were never guaranteed to meet, even some where you would have to go out of your way to go to a specific location which you hadn't started in to meet. Again, moving away from something game-like and instead towards something more LLM-friendly. INTROS One thing I sadly had to cut was the big intro displays found in the original. I had wanted to include them in this version, but they ended up being more cumbersome than useful. Yeah, it would've been more stylish but at the same time there was a lot of hassle involved in getting them to a point I was satisfied with and to do that with 7+ unique intros was just too much. There are a few images in the imagedump that were meant to be used in intro displays. Instead of intro displays, there's now a small status display at the bottom of each greeting showcasing what year it is and some other information that would either worsen AI output or be clunky if I put it into the greeting. STORY CHANGES Basically, the premise that Zorya was a knight was somewhat silly and didn't make sense. Why was she training to be a knight? Was she of noble birth? Why would they let a girl become a knight? And once she becomes a knight, she doesn't do much knightly stuff either! She goes on adventures and does missions! That's not what a knight does at all! What was I thinking??? Oh, yeah. I was thinking "cool adventurer girl with big sword". Which in hindsight is pretty cool, but for this new version I wanted something that makes a little more sense. So first off, she starts as a kid in the slums who joins a mercenary band. A lot more rational than the non-explanation in the first version. Then, she finds out she doesn't actually like killing people! Perfect reason for why she would just want to explore the lands and seek adventure that way. Originally I was going to have the story sync back up with the original version at the Border chapter before the war. The plan was that she would adventure around in her youth, and use her skills to eventually become a knight. Then she would fight at the battle at the Border, lose her partner, become Blademaster just like in the original. However, I realized that it no longer made sense for her to become a knight. And that's when I came up with the Exploratory Commission! A way for her to grow into that sensible and refined adult I wanted her to be in her final chapters. Sadly some things had to be removed along the way, such as Purple Dawn, her huge greatsword. Can't exactly be a refined explorer carrying around a slab of metal like that. I'm just putting up this card for two purposes: I doubt I'll ever finish this card, and since I won't be finishing it, it seems like a good place for me to write down my thoughts about the event, my process, and everything else. First of all, the request I got was to make a "4chan addicted NEET nerd slightly autistic Monster girl (of your choice! anything is fine but less popular ones are appreciated!) girlfriend that loves you very very very very very much and dreams of having a big family with You! Comedy/slice of life that leads into NSFW would be ideal." There were some other smaller things, but that's all that's relevant for what I made. Before even beginning with the card, there was trouble. When I got the request, the lastest card I'd made (Olivia) was an (arguably) 4chan addicted NEET nerd slightly autistic Animal girl. Oh dear! Either way, Olivia didn't love the player or particularly want to have a family with the player (except for the reason of superior children), and she most definitively wasn't a monster, so I did have some room to maneuver here. When I started, I was unsure of what kind of monstergirl to make. What even is a monstergirl, according to the requester? Some ideas I had at the start were a lamia (I hadn't done one of those before, but at the same time I think they're too common a type of monstergirl so I didn't want to do that) or a mimic. A mimic could've led to some cute scenarios where she transforms into an object to spook you, or uses her shapeshifting abilities for other fun things. BUT! How would a mimic get pregnant? From my understanding, mimics are shapeshifting parasites that get nourishment on eating things they trap. They wouldn't exactly get pregnant, and I don't think the requester wanted me to make something that creates eldritch spawn. So, another no go. Sidenote: MGE First off, the most experience I have with MGE is Chesh. Haven't read any of it and never played MGQ. Doubt I ever will. Reading through the entries on the wiki is weirdly endearing, though. For my purposes, the wiki was very useful for brainstorming different types of Monstergirls, and coincidentally the requester also directed me there when I asked for clarification on the definition of monstergirl (we had differing opinions on that). The MGE wiki was only used for types of Monstergirls and their appearances, Nicolette and Fang are both supposed to be wholesome characters. Well, a step more wholesome and family-friendly than the cast of MGE. So, after receiving confirmation of the requester's more loose definition of monstergirl the first idea I came up with was a yeti. Stays at home in her cave all day, possibly autistic, loves the player lots and wants to have kids. However, I saw two problems with this. First of all how is she going to get internet in the cave? If she's going to be a yeti, she's not going to live in a house or apartment, that's for sure. Second off, since the location will be a cave in some frozen region, there won't be much for the player to possibly do except to be in the cave. Not exactly opening up a lot of opportunities for fun. It could be an interesting scenario, but not with something like the character requested. The second character idea I had was a pandagirl. Lazy, happy to stay home all day and be on 4chan, has time for autistic interests and more. It was perfect! Later on, I came up with the idea of Fang. Less autistic, unable to go on 4chan, but definitively ready to go on comfy adventures and have the player's kids! This gave me the idea to create a trifecta, with Maya being the middle-ground. So the third part would have to be very autistic and LOVE to post on 4chan. The first thing I noted down for her was "the BASEDment", even before coming up with what type of beast she would be. Yeah, she was going to be your stereotypical basement gremlin 4channer girl, which still sounds like a fun card to make (i'm pretty sure there are cards like that out there), but if you've looked at my card lineup this event you can tell that I didn't make a card like that! Instead what happened was that I was looking at the list of MGE Monstergirls, and my eyes landed on the Werebat, one which I hadn't noticed before. Everything kind of clicked at once. Quiet, basement-dwelling, doesn't leave the house, relies on the player due to her unique biology... it was perfect! It wasn't quite the opposite to Fang that I'd wanted though, which left me with a choice. Maya and Nicolette were kind of occupying the same niche and I felt like releasing two cards so similar would be a waste of effort. It doesn't help either that I was also working on something else at the same time. And that Nicolette is a lot more interesting physiology-wise compared to a normal woman with panda ears. Final point, images! As it turns out, imagegen is still quite bad at winged arms. For Nicolette they were vital to her batlike appearance, which is why her image is just a portrait. Meanwhile I wanted a full-body shot of Fang, which is why she has wings from her back. The style I used for the images was just a mix of Kenkou Cross and Tomu, who does this neat, pixelated style which I also used for Azule. But the truth is possibly even stranger: namely, they're a bunch of barely undercover mercenaries. Each one carrying their own quirks that make fitting into ordinary life...interesting.
